Vice President of Sales

Position Purpose

The Vice President of Sales plans and leads the work of the Sales Team, is responsible for establishing company-wide sales and margins on all product categories, and is the leader in Company sales culture and the customer experience.

 

Essential Functions

  • Manages the overall sales process and develops pricing policies
  • Builds, manages, and maintains professional, long-term customer and business relationships and partnerships through disciplined prospecting, local association activities, and industry networking to ensure continued growth
  • Stays current with sales developments and trends, informs Management of upcoming impacts to the Company, then implements changes as needed
  • Develops and prepares key messaging and presentation material for the Management Team, and creates and presents proposals and presentations
  • Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of sales, methods, costs, and results
  • Constructs and manages sales budgets by territory and product
  • Provides annual sales forecast and quarterly updates, revisions, and modifications
  • Manages the sales reporting process
  • Works directly with the Management Team to set overall organizational priorities, and considers and analyses the implications of proposed actions and decisions on the whole of the Company
  • Leads in growth opportunities products/markets/services
  • Grows and maintains relationships with vendors
  • Leads in vendor program and incentive development, negotiation, and monitoring
  • Oversees the Sales Department in all areas of personnel management
  • Represents the Company at various community and/or business meetings
  • Flexible/non-traditional schedule may be required, and some travel
  • Performs other necessary functions as assigned

Qualifications Preferred

Knowledge

  • 8-10 years related experience in sales and personnel development
  • Bachelor's degree with Business emphasis preferred
  • Comfortable with learning and using new technologies
  • Sufficient experience with the Microsoft Office suite

  • A positive attitude and the ability to maintain professional, long-term co-worker, customer, vendor, and business relationships
  • Service-oriented and a dedication to win customers 'for life'
  • Strong professional verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work effectively across all levels of management
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage and delegate multiple tasks, simultaneous projects, and conflicting deadlines

  • Leadership skills, including the ability to motivate teams, develop and retain staff
